In 1915, mushti-fund – generated by each family by donating a fistful of rice and then selling the collected quantity in the market – was the unique manner in which devout Saraswats gathered the funds to start construction of a Vishnu Temple in Hubli to realize the dream of a venerated saint – Manjunath Buwa.
By 1918, the sabhagriha and sandhya – mantap were ready.
On April 2, 1922 (Chaitra Shuddha Panchami, Dundubhi Samvatsara) a marble idol of Gopalakrishna and a Shivalinga were consecrated followed by an idol of Ganapati in February 1976.
