The activity started at 10 a.m., with Satyu Sorab maam showing us the six different locations that had to be cleaned. Cleaning up also involved identifying and segregating scrap items for disposal.

The boys set out cleaning the area adjacent to the footwear stand, which had piles of wood, bricks, glass items and other junk; the waste was cleared for disposal.  Next came cleaning of the area right above the Math library, consisting of assorted cartons and old metal chairs which were set aside for disposal; a cot, a painting and oil paint material was set aside for use. Later the boys moved over to the area just behind the terrace canopy, where they moved the plastic flower pots, cement bricks for reuse in the garden area, and brought down some junk items for disposal.

The girls took upon the task of cleaning the Math library area, largely comprising of carton boxes and trunks filled with books! These books were segregated into categories, viz. bhajan books, spiritual books, and non-spiritual books, and set aside accordingly.  Other items such as old metal chairs, rods, cardboard boxes and other items were cleared for disposal.

By 1 p.m., the task of cleaning up four of the areas was completed. We then offered our prayers, partook of the prasad and started back home, tired but happy!

Charged with enthusiasm, the yuvas started with the task of cleaning up the remaining two areas at 10 a.m.  This consisted of the small area next to the library landing section and the room below the landing. All the items were removed, old chairs and directories, and other scrap items were set aside for disposal, while books and paper bags were segregated for reuse.  Two bags containing old clothes were segregated to be distributed to the needy. Some other reusable items were neatly placed back in the room.

The entire task was completed by 1 p.m.  We then offered our prayers and started back home having had a fulfilling experience.  We look forward to many more sevas in the future!
